Steps of Hajj
Ihram
Entering the state of consecration for pilgrimage by wearing the prescribed attire and making the intention (niyyah) for Hajj.
Tawaf al-Qudum
Arrival Tawaf - circumambulating the Kaaba seven times upon arrival in Makkah before proceeding to Mina.
Sa'i
Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, reenacting Hajar's search for water for her son Isma'il.
Stay in Mina
Proceeding to Mina on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah and spending the day in prayer and preparation for the main rituals.
Wuquf at Arafat
Standing at the plain of Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the most important ritual of Hajj, seeking Allah's forgiveness.
Muzdalifah
Spending the night at Muzdalifah after sunset from Arafat, collecting pebbles for the stoning ritual.
Ramy al-Jamarat
Stoning the three pillars in Mina, representing the rejection of evil and temptation, following Prophet Ibrahim's example.
Halq/Taqsir
Shaving the head (Halq) for men or trimming hair (Taqsir) for both men and women, symbolizing the end of the state of Ihram.
Tawaf al-Ifadah
The Farewell Tawaf - circumambulating the Kaaba seven times before leaving Makkah, marking the completion of Hajj.

Ihram
Entering the state of consecration by wearing the prescribed attire and making the intention (niyyah) for Umrah.
Tawaf
Circumambulating the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction, starting and ending at the Black Stone.
Sa'i
Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, reenacting Hajar's search for water.
Halq/Taqsir
Shaving the head (Halq) for men or trimming hair (Taqsir) for both men and women to complete the Umrah.
